Attention: Benjamin D. Wandelt, Professor

Applications are invited from outstanding research cosmologists for at least one postdoctoral position to start in the Fall of 2008. The successful candidate will be working with Professor Wandelt and his group on research projects in physical cosmology, relating to the cosmic microwave background and the Planck mission, dark energy and dark matter, and the study of the initial conditions of the Universe.
Each position comes with a competitive salary as well as travel and research funds.
In addition to diverse programs in Astronomy and Astrophysics, the University of Illinois has a large cosmology group, spanning the Departments of Astronomy and Physics, the Center for Theoretical Astrophysics, NCSA and the Program in Computational Science, with access to one of the premier sets of supercomputing resources and expertise in the world. Cosmologists at Illinois are members of the Dark Energy Survey, LSST, Planck, SDSS, the Square Kilometer Array, and the South Pole Telescope, amongst other collaborations.
As part of an international exchange between the Wandelt group and the Max-Planck-Institute for Astrophysics, funding is available for extended visits to Munich, further enriching the resources and the research environment available to the candidate.
To apply, submit PDF copies of your CV, a list of published and submitted publications, as well as a statement of research interests to the email address above. Arrange for three letters of references to be submitted to the same address to complete the application. Non-electronic submission is discouraged.
The University of Illinois is an equal opportunity employer.
